Top 6 Reasons Why I Love To Stay In Bugis Hotels In Singapore

Singapore is one of those incredibly few places in the world that can be explored from beginning to end in a week with only a map. Literally. Because the city is so well-organized and connected, anyone can stay in any section of the town and still get where they want to go quickly. However, because hotels are slightly more expensive than other destinations, I determined that a three-star hotel in the city would suffice for the five nights I would be there.

After extensive research and comparison, I chose the Santa Grand Hotel, one of the best Bugis hotels in Singapore. My husband and I found it an excellent three-star hotel with minimal frills, and we had no problems. But that’s not why I like staying in this neighbourhood. There were a few things that made me fall in love with it.

· Easy Access

We were roughly 0.5 km from Bugis MRT station. Alternatively, the Lavender MRT station is approximately 0.5 kilometres away. And the bus station is just a few steps away. Isn’t it true that for a visitor, having easy access to the internet is essential?

· Place For Shoppers

Bugis is said to be Singapore’s most prominent street shopping district. Is there anything else I can say? If you’re like me, you’d be lost in this shopper’s paradise. This street market has everything from clothes and shoes to small trinkets. GT tip: Don’t forget to get your buddies back home with some attractive magnets, keychains, and shot glasses. Here you’ll find the best prices.

· Best Snacks

There were cute tiny cafés and eateries along the stretch from our accommodation to the MRT and retail areas. Artistry was my favourite (which I do recommend). It offers a wide range of tea and coffee options (and wine in the late evening). Their sweets, which I understand are supplied from local indie bakeries, are just as delicious.

· Artistic Display

The street art is photogenic, with drawings of mostly children adorning various small structures. It’s a lovely spot for a morning or evening stroll.

· Delicious Juice

While I’m sure you can do this elsewhere in Singapore, the Bugis street market has stalls offering a variety of fruits. I chose New Zealand cherries, which I consider the best in the world (no joke), and pitaya Roja (red-fleshed dragon fruit). We also dared to drink Durian juice, which resulted in the salesperson amusingly laughing at us.

· Surrounded By Popular Destinations

Finally, when it comes to sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, and other activities, Bugis is pretty centrally positioned. While Orchard Road and Chinatown remain popular destinations, you will not be disappointed by Bugis.
