Since about .2% of what I said (and the least important part of anything) last night was used in the interview about the Women's March,
I want to write what I actually said and stood for because these are the types of things the news should report.
Not word for word but the basics were:
I want to march for three reasons.
First and foremost, for my daughters.
I want them to grow up in a world that tells them they are valued, respected and viable humans.
I want them to feel empowered to use their voices to speak out against injustice and have the same rights any other human has.
Secondly, for sisterhood.
I want to march for women all over the world who are working towards equal and equitable rights for all females.
For my sisters who will not back down and want to normalize womanhood.
For my sisters who have been berated this past election year, and long before that, due to the rhetoric of disrespectful, ill informed, delusional beings.
And lastly for all humans because everyone, regardless of your gender, sexual identity, income, past choices, abilities or disabilities, race, political and life views, deserves to have acceptance, respect and inclusion.
Thank you again to Lissa for coming along with me and speaking about her amazing art and how it is created to empower people, especially women, on an intimate, personal level.
These are the things we should be reporting about.
