We dance, we sing, we laugh, we cry. I walk away with a distinct sense of the fragility of life, and the thought that when it comes to an end, it should be celebrated exactly like this."
My latest story in today's @travellerau, about the transformative experience I had with @crooked_compass in Nepal, including a very special aarti ceremony. #linkinbio 🙏🏼

Browse sfsj's Instagram Up in the Himalaya, the winter sun gets up a little slowly. I get it, it's tough to move quickly when it's that cold. But it still rises in the east. So I was shooting the sunrise on the peaks one day and had the tripod all set up to get the light on the mountains and I turned around and saw this amazing sunrise over the hills and lights just going out in the village below me. For me, the textures I capture are at times as important as the light itself. This image is an example of what I love about the feel of those textures, especially in the mountains. What are the the things you need to get the feel of in your life right now?⠀

Browse jow_didi's Instagram "Sister can I have your mobile?" 30 seconds and 3k pictures later your phone is at 2% with no storage left. This kid loves taking selfies and when you learn Mohit means handsome, you can't imagine his name being anything else. This little man is handsome and he knows it. He is Mohit.
When new kids are added to the Raksha family they are given new names. Partially for their protection. Partially for a new start. Menuka Thapa has this incredible gift of making these children feel important by giving them meaningful names. This is just one of the many ways she helps the kids down their path of healing and become some of the happiest humans in the world.

@Khumbu Climbing Centre class of 2017 is currently underway in Phortse, Khumbu Himalaya. The last few days I have been sharing photos dedicated to their efforts.
The KCC runs annual courses to teach Nepali mountain workers how to be safer doing their jobs. Check out www.alexlowe.org for more info and to make a donation to this great cause! 1432030043198854861_268345212

Browse slcbikergirl's Instagram 🎉 ☺ Happy Friday!! 💫 I love sharing my hula hoop photos from Nepal, they evoke such happy memories. This man was so shy and it took a lot of coaxing from his friends to give the hula hoop a try.. When he finally did he was so happy and laughed at being able to do it. ☺ This photo makes me smile and generates such happiness. I hope it makes you smile as well. ✌️🌀 Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! 1431975883888337071_359359406

Browse arielestulin's Instagram I think landscape and travel photographers are always on the lookout for that grand vista photo and often overlook the intimacy a detailed shot can show. I love shooting details, especially in temples and religious sites. This is a close up of a statue head at the Monkey Temple in Kathmandu during the colorful Dashain festival where Nepalis return home to celebrate the festival with family. I've chosen to use a square format for this photo because it's all about symmetry here. I'm also keenly aware of the colors that are present in this image. We've got the cooler blues of the statue that compliment the brighter reds and oranges. I'm always looking for that ying-yang in my shots, and here it all fits together with color. -–--------------------------------------------------This year's Nepal Photography Workshop will run from Oct 21-Nov 4, 2017. Throwback to KCC 2008. Pasang Tendi Sherpa is exactly who the school was developed for. His occupation as a Sherpa guide is a rewarding career that opens up many opportunities for him and his family. It is also statistically very dangerous. Knowledge of wilderness first aid, technical climbing, and rescue techniques will help him stay safer in the mountains.

And then... 8 groups of the Basic Course and our two Advanced classes set to. In this snap, new students are practicing climbing and descending on low angle ice protected by fixed rope. Panuru Sherpa is our KCC Chairman and Lead Instructor. That he chooses to spend his day teaching the foundational climbing skills is a testament to the dedication of our teachers. 1431291355984718496_29465794

Browse arielestulin's Instagram This is Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. In April 2015 it was severely damaged during the earthquake that shook the entire country, and only recently restored to its previous glory. Buddhists come here to circumnavigate the structure in a clock-wise direction. You can see them counting prayer beads and spinning prayer wheels in their path to enlightenment. It's truly a sea of people all moving in unison. To achieve the shot I really wanted to show the flow and movement of the crowd so I purposely slowed down the shutter speed to create that movement. An image should always tell a story, and the story here is all about movement and flow. --------------------------------------------------This year's Nepal Photography Workshop will run from Oct 21-Nov 4, 2017.
